1% Chance of Love [2]
The video was so bad, I had to watch almost the entire drama while reading the subs from d-addicts! While I find the experience annoying, it's quite a sweet drama but I don't think I'd watch it again. None of the characters are good looking. Kang Dong Woo grows on you. I started off thinking "This guy isn't good looking at all!" but because his character shines, so my opinion about him changed.
18 vs 29 [2]
I like comedy dramas, and this is one of them.
It's actually quite entertaining, and some parts are very funny, but there are WAY TOO MUCH "misunderstanding plots" which are annoying and unnecessary. Feel good series.
All About Eve [2]
Until the end I was expecting a female character named 'Eve' to turn up, but to my disappointment, that's not the reason behind the title. I don't get these Korean titles sometimes.
The series isn't as good as I thought. Way too predictable because the female antagonist is SO CRUEL. Just think of the worst possible plot and you'll hit the jackpot most of the time.
All In [1]
It gives the feeling as if you're watching a Taiwanese series.
1. Way too long, unlike most Korean series. Twice as long, in fact.
2. The mafia, oh the mafia.
3. The complicated plot.
The first turn off point was the soundtrack. Very unappealing. The second was the male lead. I’m sorry but he’s just not pleasing to my eyes. His kissing scenes, however, are WOW. If you’ve watched a lot of Korean series, you’ll think Korean males are all bad kissers. There was no locking lips. Just barely touching the surface. This guy is an exception. In the end I was too bored I skipped to the ending.
Attic Cat [2]
It’s funny although I don’t like any of the main characters. The title suits the storyline this time.
Autumn In My Heart (Endless Love / Autumn Tale) [2]
Quality wise it was good. I cried loads when the characters were still little. It lost the touch when they grew up! Okay story but has a lot of predictable plot. Song Hye Gyo is awesome. Song Seung Hun looks better here than in Summer Scent. But I just can't bear stories with illness as the main plot. I just watched it for the sake of Won Bin.
Bad Couple [4]
At start it was just plain funny and interesting, then became more serious towards the middle part of the series. In some places the story turns a bit corny, but with Ryu Soo Young excellent acting, I actually look forward to the corny scenes. Soundtrack was very good and perfect for this drama.
Acting was excellent from all main leads and supporting casts. All the casts portrays strong characters.
If it wasn’t for the ending – which I found so unrealistic, and that it was a bit draggy towards the end, I would have given full mark. There were many unnecessary scenes, for example Dang Ja’s birthday scenes which basically just highlighted “Oh, I’m so sad, Dang Ja, but I’ll be with you all the way”. It’s pointless because we’ve established that fact already.
What I enjoyed in this series:
- How sincere Gi Chan is. A perfect boyfriend/husband. He’s too good. Naïve, yes, but that only adds to his perfection.
- How shameless Dang Ja is. Totally, utterly shameless, but somehow still carries some dignity in the end. Credit to her for a lot of hilarious scenes.
- How cute Yeon Doo is. I can understand how Dang Ja could be drawn into wanting a child so much.
- How charming Jung Soo is. I mean handsome, no. I mean HOT. And the fact that he loves an ajuhma with kid. Oh… lucky ajuhmaaa!!!
- The chemistry between Gi Chan and Dang Ja.
- Lack of clichés. [I watched this straight after watching Witch Yoo Hee. Hence the high rating for this one.
Unfortunately, the other lovers don’t share the same chemistry. I think Jung Soo and the ajuhma was a wee unbelievable. Yeon Doo’s mom and dad’s chemistry was even worse. What a dysfunctional family they have.
Be Strong Geum Soon [3]
I was forced, literally, to watch this series. Naturally, it was hundred plus episodes! Thank God I agreed to that, because it turns out to be a wonderful and touching series. There were a few times when I just had to hit the fast forward button because I thought some of the problems were just blown out of proportion. The ending spreads for a few episodes it became really really draggy I just had to fast forward the ending. The whole story had the “too good to be true” feeling, but I guess it’s kind of expected. It’s a drama afterall. I learned a lot watching this series, one thing for sure: if you have curly hair, try straightening it. Just by doing that one could look a lot prettier!
Couple of Fantasy (Fantasy Couple) [2]
I didn’t see the ending because the disc that had the ending stalled. Otherwise the rating could go higher (or lower). It was an OK series, chemistry was quite good. The female lead sometimes looks horrifying, like the frankenstein’s bride, but sometimes she could look beautiful. I thought that was odd. Her acting however is excellent. She could be rude and feisty yet longing for “humanity” at the same time!
Oh Ji Ho is not too bad, just not my cup of tea.
Dal Ja’s Spring [4]
Seriously addictive. I like it SOOO MUCH. There were a few plots which were potential to be exploited to become a ‘typical drama’, but they didn’t. Phew, and I enjoyed it. Funny and touching, and in most part very believable that I could reflect it upon myself.
I like almost everything about this series. ChaeRim acted brilliantly and I have nothing but praises for her. Dalja’s unni best friend (forgot her name already), she acted well too. I like Seon Joo and Sae Do too.
Lee MinKi (Kang Tae Bong) however, still has a lot of room for improvement. Sometimes I can’t tell whether he’s sneering or being serious. When the screen flashed some romantic subtitle text, I had to pause and rewind, just to check if I read it right. His expressions don’t match the mood. When he’s saying some seriously romantic words, it doesn’t sound sincere nor believable because the face just doesn’t say the same thing as the mouth. I love his character though, Kang TaeBong is very sweet indeed.
There were a few scenes which I found hilarious that I couldn’t stop laughing.
What I think is quite annoying is the ending. I’m not going to elaborate on it to avoid spoilers for spoiler phobic people like myself, but it has a “2 years later” which I found superfluous. It can do without it. While the whole story minus the ending is so untypical of Korean drama plot, the ending is sadly SOOO typical.
The soundtrack is good, appropriately placed in scenes and creates the mood. It helps me understand the Kang TaeBong’s mismatch expressions. For some reasons I feel it has a chrismastssy feeling everytime the song (“let me feel love, my baby…”) comes up.’
Delightful Girl Choon Hyang [4.5]
This is one of my all time favourite. Minus 0.5 only because I find some parts very cheesy. It’s a good cheesiness though. Beautiful soundtrack. Loved it. The song “Haeng bok ha gil ba reh” is still my favourite main ringtone even now. I’m such a sucker for series with good songs.
It’s an entertaining series to watch, very engaging and addictive. Mong Ryong’s father is so delightfully funny, straight out of the comic book character. JaeHee was very good in this series. Love him. So many hilarious and so many cute scenes.
Full House [3.5]
The main casts were all good looking. Good songs. Funny scenes. The three ingredients to my high rating, usually. In some parts were touching I almost cried. My only complaint is that the story line was full of clichés and it was predictable even from the start.
Goong [3]
I found this series quite ordinary, albeit being very popular. I only liked episode 23, the chemistry between Shin and Chae Gyung, and the soundtrack. Acting was okay. A few exciting moments but otherwise boring and draggy. The ending was “what the hell”. I religiously follow the manhwa by Park So Hee, so I was a bit disappointed with this adaptation. Idon’t think Joo Ji Hoon doesn’t do justice to Shin character.
Urgently needed a fashion style expert to fix the royal choice of clothing, though. Especially Shin’s. Some of what not to wear: pale pink sweater with pale blue dots, white shirt with black polka dots, and bare chested showing off necklace with huge beads.
Green Rose [2]
I probably would have liked it better had I watched the original version, not the Chinese dubbed version, and with better subtitling too! Still, I would have disappointed about the ending anyway, because I hate the way ALL the resolutions were TOO EASY.
Guardian Angel [2]
I love Song Hye Gyo, that’s why I watched this series. However the story is so predictable and the guy is not good looking. It’s just watchable but I won’t recommend it.
Hello! Miss [2]
Only the beginning was very interesting and entertaining. The rest was all cliché and predictable plots. Lee DaeHee’s acting was mediocre, almost overacting in my opinion.
Hotelier [4]
One of the not so predictable series hence I like it. It also has very good songs. The beginning part was a bit boring, but from 2nd episode onwards was pretty much got me addicted.
Kid Gang [1]
The one point was solely for Lee KiWoo for being such an eye candy, an incredibly tall one too. Some of the scenes are incredibly funny, but the story line, oh-mi-god. There was no storyline whatsoever.
Love Story in Harvard [1]
The beginning was okay, but from around the middle bit until the end was very very dragging. Very predictable plot, I could think of the ending from 3 episodes before. Puts me off completely. I should refrain myself from watching series with Kim RaeWon in it, because I just don’t like him.
There were too many tasteless (read: way too cheesy) scenes. For example ‘the kissing bus window scene’. I know it was shot beautifully, and maybe supposed to be a bit erotic (?) but still… what the hell. The English for people who supposedly have been studying very well in USA was very poor. I had to read the subtitle to understand Alex’s English.
Lovers in Paris [4]
Excitingly funny. In each episode there will be fresh exciting scenes, hence not boring and it’s very addictive. I love Park Shin Yang in this series. Very cute.
Marrying a Millionaire [1]
I didn’t have much expectation for this series. Yet I’m surprised how much cliché it has. One point only for Go Soo’s acting and some adorable cutesy moments, which were easily turns .. err.. corny. If you like corny love story, watch this one.
My Girl [3]
Made me laughed. It’s from the same director who brought Delightful Girl Choon Hyang to success, but I much prefer Delightful Girl Choon Hyang. Story wise it’s just ordinary and easy to predict what’s going to happen next.
My Love Patzzi [2]
Theme song was okay. I don’t get the title. It’s funny and fresh. Jang Nara acted very well. Unfortunately the main lead is Kim Rae Won.
My Lovely Sam-Soon [5]
Way to go for an ordinary story line became an all round entertainment to watch. Hillariously funny and cleverly done. Oh, and Hyun Bin is very cute.
Outrageous Women (Rude Woman) [2]
If only it was a lot shorter with less stretched ending, I would have given more points. It was funny and freshly enterntaining. I said fresh because there’s this fresh young actor Lee KiWoo. The soundtract, unfortunately was a flop.
Sorry I love you (I’m sorry, I love you/ Mianhada, Saranghanda / MiSa) [2]
I hate the never ending sadness and bad luck all around. Very tiring to watch. So Ji Sub is a good actor, though. Soundtrack was good.
Soulmate [4]
V*E*R*Y**G*O*O*D!!!
[DongWoo is striking.]
Why is it good? Because it could make me think “what the heck!!” but then make me satisfied with the answer. It’s funny, and although the ending was a bit predictable, but believe me, YOU WANT THAT ENDING.
I wish I understand Korean because I bet it will be even funnier.
The soundtract is damn good. Mellow songs.
Successful Story of a Bright Girl (Bright Girl's Success Story) [4]
It’s very very good. I recommend it to a lot of my friends. I love Jang Hyuk in this series. It kept me laughing, very very witty and hilarious.
Summer Scent [2]
It’s good. I don’t like the ending – it made me scream “why do you have to do that?”. It has a simple story, the ending was predictable. Maybe so that to prevent it being too predictable then they made it weird instead?
Song Seung Hun – I found him unattractive at first, but changed my opinion in the end (when his hair becomes straight!). The fashion style, however. Let’s not discuss that.
In my opinion, this series should be titled ‘I’m sorry’ instead. It fits more to the story. There were too many ‘I’m sorry’ said in this series.
Sweet 18 / Little Bride / Sweet Bride [2]
At the beginning it was OK, light and funny. From the middle part it became predictable and I got confused why they kept going with it. It should just end in the middle and that’s it.
Sweet Spy [1]
1 point for Dennis Oh (because he’s so gorgeous).
-1 point because Dennis Oh can’t act to save his life.
0.5 point for the okay chemistry between the main leads.
Another 0.5 point because the plot was potential to be very good, but they made the ending so crap.
Thank You [2]
It’s a mediocre series in my opinion. Only that it has Jang Hyuk here which was very very HOT. It was supposed to be a teary drama, I think, but it didn’t get me at all. The most touching scene was towards the end. Only one scene.
The soundtrack was okay.
Usually in Korean drama you’d expect an old lady who was picked because she distinctively looked hideous, and they’d dress her up appropriately with revolting taste of fashion too. In this series, there were TWO of them! *faint from disbelief* When they’re together, my eyes complained.
The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince [4]
For me to watch this, it took a whole lot of persuasion by my good friend djes,… but by did I like it!
I was skeptical about it, mainly because I was cynical thinking this could be yet another one of those over-rated dramas with predictable story lines and mediocre acting. How wrong was I?!
The acting was excellent, even down to the small supporting roles. Some of the plots were clichés, but it was forgiveable due to interesting character development and the excellent performances.
I was so into it I had to read the novel summaries from dramabeans. It was refreshing and gives a different feeling than the drama.
But if i have to go into more details, I think Han Gyul was stupid not to realise than EunChan is a girl. 2 give away clues:
1. She cries a lot. a lot, a lot. I’ve never seen a guy cries that much in real life. Except one of my classmates when i was in grade 1 elementary school. Crybaby. Geesh!;
2. No adam's apple. Even in the novel, HanGyul noticed this, and still didn't suspect anything! Isn't it a definite clue? Tell me, how stupid can you be not to think that she's a girl after seeing no adam's apple?? Or was i mistaken? Not all guys have adam's apple? Please enlighten me on this one.
OST was good and creative. I like the scene when HanGyul sings, and when HanSung sings. Both sung very well. I know this drama is geared towards what women want to see, and I for one loves it when a man does serenade.
The only “not so good” thing about this series was the ending. I don’t want to spoil, but let’s just say it’s tooo much detail. I was lost and almost hit the fastforward button. They overdid it, I think.
The drama is so cute, I wish I could put it on my pocket and carry it with me everywhere because I can’t help but smile everytime I look at it.
Tree of Heaven (Heaven’s Tree) [3]
I think this is both Korean and Japanese drama. It has a melancholy story, and a lot of crying scenes. Lee Wan is HOT – especially after he cuts his hair. Episode 6 and 7 were funny with the silly mafias.
What Star Did You Come From (What Planet Are You From / Which Star Are You From) [0]
+1 for main leads’ acting – it was good.
Minus 0.5 for wasting that good acting on a cliché and prolonged yet pointless story line. It was so boring!
Minus 0.5 because it turns out I still dislike Kim Rae Won!
It was sooo boring, I got upto the last disc but so fed up I didn’t want to see the ending! I could picture it in my head anyway. It’s full of romantic BS.
This is the first series I actually fast forwarded ENTIRELY. Crazy, isn’t it? There was nothing that kept me interested or even try to understand. There was nothing to understand for because from episode one I know what will happen and how it will happen. Typical. Very typical. Oh and I don’t like Jung Ryu Won either. What a combination.
Witch Amusement (Witch Yoo Hee) [0.5]
I was close to giving it nil poi!
It has too much cliché, I could guess the ending from episode 2. I was even okay with that because this is a drama afterall and I’m so used to that now. But really, it made me sit through and watch the ever so tiring and repetitive plot. Over and over again.
There’s no good chemistry at all in this series, and there were a lot of things (little details) that annoy me. It has one of the worst ending ever.
The ONLY thing that was worthwhile watching is how handsome Dennis Oh is and how good jae hee’s acting is.
It was a waste of a good cast. |
